July 28 1982 Kent Hotel Waterloo

Source : Cassette -> WAV/FLAC/MP3

This is the earliest live recording I have of the band as of June 2 2021. It is an infamous show as it was the band's very first out of town gig. It took place at the Kent Hotel in Kitchener/Waterloo on July 28 1982. Rheostatics opened for L'Etranger who the same night had opened for The Dead Kennedys at The Concert Hall in Toronto before bolting to Kitchener for their headline set. They arrived at the end of the Rheos set and a couple of the members were invited up to play on the Rheos last song which was a cover of The Heptones Book Of Rules. This is a "Triostatics" show featuring only Dave Bidini, Dave Clark and Tim Vesely right around the time of the release of their My Generation/Satellite Dancing single. Apparently there is a decent studio recording of the song No Religion somewhere still to be discovered. This is the only version I have of it being played and per Dave's comments it was written about a week before this show. The sound is quite good considering this show was recorded almost 40 years ago.
